Multiple Vulnerabilities in Fortinet Products

Affected Environment
FortiOS, FortiProxy, FortiSwitch, FortiSandbox, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and cloud variants across 7.2 to 8.0 branches.

Threat Overview
Ten CVEs across Fortinet products, led by CVE-2026-107656, a FortiSandbox authentication bypass rated CVSS 9.6.

Exposure Timeline
Disclosed 13 October 2026; some fixes, including FortiOS 7.6.9 and FortiSandbox 5.2.2, are still upcoming.

Attack Surface
FortiSandbox GUI and API, HTTPS management interfaces, FortiManager fgfmd daemon, and FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager request handling.

Technical Root Cause
Authentication bypass, hard-coded cryptographic key, SQL injection, OS command injection, double-free, improper locking, and uncaught exceptions.

Exploitation Pathway
Unauthenticated attackers send crafted HTTP requests to bypass authentication; low-privileged users inject SQL through crafted requests.

Operational Impact
Authentication bypass, arbitrary command execution, file access, and persistent denial of service on security management platforms.

Strategic Impact
Sandbox and management platforms hold sensitive telemetry; compromise weakens detection and control across the estate.

Required Mitigation
Upgrade to Fortinet's fixed releases; migrate 7.2 and 7.4 branches to a fixed release.

Incident Response Guidance
Restrict management interface exposure, review authentication and administrative logs for anomalies, and verify FortiSandbox and FortiManager patch status.
