Threats are becoming more and more advanced. A lack of expertise in IT Security followed by a demand to reduce costs and increase productivity stretches internal resources to the limit. All the while external pressures are being piled on by new regulatory compliance, growing network complexity and the evolving threat landscape introducing sophisticated attacks such advanced persistent threats (APTs). Failing to integrate a system that ensures your network and data are secure at all times can add substantial risk to your business.
The best way to learn about our solutions is to hear from those who use them. Learn more about how Smarttech247 has helped enterprise organisations implement best-of-breed managed security solutions globally.
Ireland East Hospital Group
Organisations in the healthcare industry, like the members of the IEHG, are a key target for cybercriminals looking to disrupt operations (by launching ransomware attacks), steal personal information, health data and intellectual property. IEHG wanted more control over their information, securing their network and gaining a deeper insight into malware-driven attacks. With a large amount of information coming from the endpoint devices, firewalls, servers etc., IEHG members were faced with limited visibility across their network, as well as limited ability to correlate the millions of events that took place within their environment. IEHG turned to Smarttech247 to secure their infrastructure with a unified, strategic approach that can reliably support today’s hospitals and can scale to support the hospitals of tomorrow as well.
The threat is ever changing, and the solutions to counteract the threat are not always keeping pace with the improvement in the skills and abilities of the people who can potentially attack your environment. There is no silver bullet that will provide an all-encompassing answer. Like most companies, Dairygold had a lot of different platforms providing different technology services to their suppliers, customers and employees. Dairygold needed to get more definitive visibility of what was happening on those platforms without spending a lot of time chasing false positives.
Dairygold focused on IBM QRadar SIEM along with IBM BigFix for patch and inventory management. QRadar SIEM is able to collect logs, events and flows from all network devices and assets, helping to analyse the risks and vulnerabilities in the Dairygold network. To address the cybersecurity risks that come with Operational Technology, Dairygold implemented IBM BigFix. The IBM BigFix App for QRadar significantly increases the scope and depth of QRadar’s security intelligence with real-time deep endpoint security data from BigFix.
What the customer said
“Dairygold decided to go with Smarttech247 and the service they provided alongside the product was ideal. Smarttech247 provide around-the-clock monitoring service alongside a vast amount of knowledge and experience of deploying and monitoring organisations that have similarly distributed architectures to Dairygold. They maintained their focus from the sales cycle right through deployment and it was a seamless process.” – Brian Padden, Group IT Director
The average time to identify a malicious attack is 191 days. The corresponding average time to contain an attack is 66 days. These stats clearly underpin the importance of fast and conclusive threat detection, an activity that demands total traffic visibility at all times. Abtran identified this need quickly and wanted to improve their internal data handling processes and gain more visibility without affecting efficiency. Their primary want was to ensure that customer information is used and handled in the most secure way possible by all members of the organisation. Abtran needed to sharpen their focus on cybersecurity due to the expansion of their digital services. To address this, the implementation of a SIEM alongside Watson for cybersecurity allowed them to predict, identify, understand and eliminate cyber threats. Moreover, Abtran needed to ensure compliance with the recent EU GDPR, PCI and ISO27001.
In order to gain visibility of their network and a way to protect their organisation against the growing number of cybersecurity attacks, Smarttech247 implemented an on-premise IBM QRadar SIEM along with Watson for Cybersecurity. Abtran was the first company globally to use IBM Watson for Cybersecurity as part of their managed security service package provided by Smarttech247.
What the customer said
“IBM Watson for Cyber Security enables our security team to predict, identify, understand and then eliminate cyber threats. This gives Abtran the confidence to stay ahead of ever-increasing cyber threats.” – Aisling Deasy, CIO
Laya Healthcare (part of AIG)
Healthcare insurance companies deal with a great deal of personal and often sensitive client information. This requires diligence on the part of the company and a commitment to protecting these sensitive assets in a reliable and compliant manner. Consequently, Laya Healthcare (part of the AIG Group) deal with vast quantities of data across medical and financial aspects of their business and a particular challenge for them was the volume of security logs that are created on a daily basis. With the large amount of information coming from the firewalls, servers etc., Laya Healthcare was faced with limited visibility across their network, as well as limited ability to correlate the millions of events that took place within their environment.
Smarttech247 provided Laya Healthcare with IBM QRadar, a SIEM solution that was straightforward to deploy, that could deal with large volumes of data and most importantly, give real-time visibility into Laya Healthcare’s overall risk and security posture. The SIEM solution identifies the most sophisticated cyber-attacks through advanced correlation driving vulnerability management with QVM and BigFix, and consolidating multiple security feeds from antivirus systems, IPS/IDS and APT Technologies in a single pane of glass for real-time security intelligence. This allowed Laya Healthcare to gain visibility across their networks and concentrate on their core business.
What the customer said
“Smarttech247 came on board with us initially advising on the correct type of technology and the correct way to implement it, as well as the overall process. As we moved forward and evaluated the various technologies, Smarttech247 were our preferred MSSP in terms of a company that had worked with us on that journey to map out our exactly what we needed. The implementation phase of IBM QRadar and BigFix took 3 months and now we feel more secure and better prepared for what the cybersecurity threat landscape holds.” – Ian Brennan, Director of IT.
Universities such as the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland are a key target for cybercriminals looking to steal personal information, research data and intellectual property. Moreover, they are on a high target for DDoS attacks. RCSI wanted more control over the sharing of information, securing their network and gaining deeper insight into malware-driven attacks.
To address the challenges faced by RCSI, Smarttech247 implemented IBM QRadar SIEM as it allowed the university to gain real-time visibility across a large disparate network. Together with a 24/7 managed security service by Smarttech247, QRadar consolidates and prioritises security events from all sources and it allows the administrator to see what is happening straight away. It gives RCSI a data-rich, easy-to-use interface and real-time valuable information.
What the customer said
“We had a great experience dealing with Smarttech247 from the very beginning. Their security experts helped us build a smarter and more secure network within RCSI with IBM QRadar. QRadar has given us peace of mind because we know we are under threat, we know we are experiencing breaches but we are tracking those threats and managing them. It gives us a level of confidence to say we are on top of our security events and we can address any issue in real-time.” – Enda Kyne, CIO
Aryzta has sites operating globally on a 24/7 basis. “Our organisation has a wide geographic spread and we have bakeries operating 24/7,” Liston explains. “We need a cybersecurity partner to monitor and manage cyber threats 24/7. We are not in a position to hire and retain a full-time team of our own to do that, no organisation could”
The global food giant uses the Smarttech247 managed service solution to protect manufacturing sites around Europe. Smarttech has implemented IBM’s Watson for cybersecurity. With the help of IBM Watson, Smarttech deliver managed security services to provide real-time analysis of an organisation’s entire network system and a deeper visibility across the entire IT infrastructure through our Security Operations Centre
What the customer said
“Smarttech247 plans it with the local teams – I don’t have to get involved. They can scale at speed. We have operations around Europe and we are deploying it one country at a time. That model fits in with our budget. They are a very innovative technology company and we are a traditional FMCG company, but we have fallen into a good way of working with each other. I would recommend Smarttech247 to others and I have done so” – Noel Liston, CIO
