About the Role

Smarttech247 is hiring a Cloud Security Engineer for their Engineering team here in Cork. In this role, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our clients’ cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Cloud infrastructure Implementation and configuration: Provision and configure virtual machines, storage, networking, and other resources. Experience in migrating existing applications to on-cloud and setting up managed services, such as databases, AI/ML services, or analytics platforms.
• Cloud Security Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive cloud security strategies to protect cloud resources, services and data on Azure, AWS and GCP
• Security Compliance: Ensure cloud services and configurations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
• Identity and Access Management (IAM): Configure and manage IAM policies and roles to control access to cloud resources effectively.
• Firewall Management: Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and VPN solutions to protect the network perimeter.
• Network Security: Implement, manage and maintain network security measures to safeguard against unauthorised access, data breaches and cyber threats.
• SIEM Management: Design the SIEM solutions to ensure it scales and meets the organization’s requirements, integrate various log sources and perform log quality check and performance tuning
• Security Monitoring: Set up continuous monitoring and alerting for cloud environments to detect and respond to security incidents in real-time.
• Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
• Security Documentation: Create and maintain documentation of cloud security policies, procedures and configurations.
• Security Awareness: Promote cloud security awareness among technical and non-technical teams and provide training as needed.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into cloud architecture and application development.
• Incident Response: Liaise with the SOC to develop and execute incident response plans for cloud-related security incidents, including root cause analysis and mitigation.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

• Cloud Security Expertise: In-depth knowledge of cloud security principles, including AWS, Azure, or GCP best practices and services.
• Cybersecurity Knowledge and Experience: Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats and risk management in cloud environments.
• IAM Mastery: Proficiency in configuring and managing Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and roles.
• Networking Proficiency: Proficiency in network protocols, routing and switching, with the ability to troubleshoot network issues effectively.
• Security Tools: Proficiency in using security tools like Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB) and SIEM solutions.
• Compliance Understanding: Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance frameworks relevant to cloud security.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address complex security issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey security concepts and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or equivalent are a plus.
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment and adapt to evolving cloud security requirements.
• Scripting and Automation: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools for cloud security tasks.
